Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior political figure said the incident left him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
